Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura Kingdom which was established back in 380 BC was the first kingdom of ancient Sri Lanka. There are many iconic attractions like Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, Rwanweliseya, Jetavanaramaya and Thuparamaya to witness in this stunning city.

Aukana

The 12-metre-high Aukana Buddha statue is regarded as the best preserved ancient statue in Sri Lanka. Located approximately 11 kilometres away from Aukana statue is the 13-metre-high Sasseruwa Buddha statue which is an unfinished work of art.

Mihintale

The encounter between Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanapiyatissa which resulted in Buddhism being introduced to the island is believed to have taken place in Mihintale. Thus, it is one of the most venerated sites among Buddhists of Sri Lanka.

Yapahuwa

Yapahuwa was the capital of Sri Lanka which was established after the Polonnaruwa Kingdom declined. It has some well-preserved ruins that showcase the grandeur of its glory days. The Stone Stairway of Yapahuwa is one of the most popular attractions here.
